Parent ministry

We believe the most effective student ministry ministers to the whole family and not just the student. We want to do all that we can to encourage and care for parents in our church.

Parent Nights:

Four times a year, our student ministry provides a parent night to connect with parents. During our parent nights, we discuss the upcoming calendar, field questions from parents, and provide training regarding issues in student ministry. In the past, we have discussed technology including social media and video games, sexuality, and generational worldviews. If you are a parent of a current or soon to be 7th-12th grader, we’d love for you to join us. Our next Parent night will be January 3rd at 6:30pm in room D117a

Parent of Teenagers Small Groups:

Each Sunday, we offer a small group designed specifically for parents of teenagers. This small group meets at 9:45am and is led by Jeff and Kathy Madison. Each morning, parents meet to talk about triumphs and struggles in the home. They also study the same lesson their students learn in their small group. This allows the parents to go home equipped to have conversations with their kids as well as have a plan to apply the lesson in their home.

Faith at Home Wall:

One of the premier aspects of our Next-Gen Ministry is the Faith at Home. In the north hallway of the building, you can find the Faith at Home Wall that has many guides for equipping parents to disciple their kids. On the wall you will find our Family Discussion Guides. These guides help parents discuss difficult issues with their children. Currently, we offer discussion guides on tattoos, internet filtering, smartphone addiction, Tik-Tok, LGBTQ+ community, discipleship, friendship, eating disorders, a doubting teen, teen identity, Netflix, depression and anxiety, violence, pornography, and violence. If you can’t find what you might be looking for, ask us and we can help!

You will also find family experiences. These family experiences are designed to prepare parents to talk about age specific issues. Each year, parents have the opportunity to discuss issues their children will face at this age. These family experiences include transitioning to a big kid bed, generosity, purity, driving, money, and many more. For a full list, check out the family experiences by clicking the link below.

Each month, we teach our kids and teenagers a new memory verse. You can find each month’s memory verse at the Faith at Home wall. Additionally, you can find a Family Bible Study you can lead with your children that relates specifically to that month’s memory verse.

Finally, you can find a list of upcoming events as well as books the church staff has recommended.
